August In Service Days

All Staff  ( Teaching and Support Staff ) in Lourdes Primary took part in training in Child Welfare and Safety, Supporting Children with Emotional and Social Needs and Data Protection.

We also had staff meetings to plan for the year ahead.

Attendance and Punctuality

Please ensure that you phone the school to let us know if your child is absent if not a text message will be sent to you notifying you of the absence. Absences will be monitored termly. If for any reason your child is late for school please escort your child to the school office so that your child can recorded as present at school.

Parents’ Views

Throughout the year we plan to seek your views with regards to the work and life of the school.

Shortly you will receive a questionnaire regarding Child Welfare and Safety. We hope you will take the time to return these questionnaires so that we can work with you in partnership to make improvements.

Playground

During the summer the playgrounds were painted to support children’s activities at playtime.

This month we will be monitoring the playground in terms of the children’s punctuality, safety, activities, resources and behaviour.

We plan to use the front playground for Primary 1-3. This will be monitored and reviewed in terms of Health and Safety.

A line has been clearly painted in the front playground and we ask that Parents do not access the playground beyond that line towards the side gate. We hope this will help avoid the congestion at the side gate at 9a.m and 3p.m.

On Friday 16th August we will invite Parents to look at the playground after 9a.m or after 3p.m. once all the children have entered or exited the building.

School Uniform

The children were all looking so smart this morning in their school uniform. We appreciate all the effort that you make to provide the uniform and will be encouraging the children to wear their uniform throughout the year.

School Car Park Gates

The school car park gates will be closed at 8.50– 9.10a.m. and

2.40 – 3.10p.m. following advice in order to improve the safety of our children.

After School Activities

There are a number of activities planned and Mrs Kay will be sending out letters shortly.

P.E.

P.E. timetables will be completed as soon as possible and your child’s Class Teacher will inform you which days your child should bring a P.E. kit. Children should wear a white or blue polo shirt, P.E. shorts or jogging trousers.

Flag Pole

Northern Construction have kindly offered to supply and fit a Flag Pole within the school grounds. Finally, we will be able to then display our Green Flag Award.
