Parent Focus Group

Our first Focus Group met on Thursday 3rd October with thanks to those who attended.   We discussed a number of issues / concerns related to the playground and parents were able to discuss and make suggestions. We all agreed that further markings in the front playground could ease the congestion and that will be organised as soon as possible.

Sponsored Bounce

Please find attached a copy of the sponsored bounce form. In order for the children to take part it is essential that that the parental consent at the top of the form is completed and that your child has returned the form before or on the day. This event is organised by the Parent Council to raise funds for their events for all the children in the school and they will also provide juice and crisps for the children.

Personal Learning Plans

Many thanks to the members of the Parent Council for coming into the school and organising the PLP folders.

Fire Drill

Last week we had out first Fire Drill of the session. As a result we have reviewed our Policy which we will discuss at the next Parent Council Meeting.

School Assembly

Our Assemblies so far have involved a number of visitors to the school including Missionaries and an Opera Singer. We hope to continue this approach as well as celebrating the children’s achievements. Our visitors have been highly complimentary about the children’s behaviour.

In Service Day

As part of Our In Service Day all staff had the opportunity to review our Vision, Values and Aims.We also conducted a Health and Safety Tour of the building and reviewed and updated our Emergency Evacuation Policy.

Rainy Mornings

Our policy has had to be reviewed and risk assessed in terms of the children entering the building before 9a.m. in severe weather conditions. The safety of the children is our first and main priority however we have always been and will continue to be sympathetic to the children standing outside in the cold and rain.

The Dining Hall is now being used as a gym hall on 4 mornings per week from 9a.m. to comply with the 2 hour per week P.E. entitlement for every child. Therefore the hall can no longer be used in the morning to bring the children in out of severe weather conditions as the floor would then be too slippery for P.E.

We will encourage the children to stand in the first instance if they arrive early under the canopy outside the main door. Once monitors are in place in the classrooms the Management Team will then escort the children round to the middle doors to access the classrooms.

Please ensure that your child has suitable clothing for the rain and cold as the time of access to the building before 9a.m. may vary. Children will only be able to access the building if there is adequate supervision in place.

Lunch Time / Dining Hall

The layout of the Dining Hall furniture and access to the tills has been reviewed and will be altered to avoid less congestion. The focus now will be on the children clearing away their trays or packed lunches and keeping the tables and floor tidy.

October Devotion to Our Lady

During this month Miss Morrison (Pr 4a Teacher) will be leading the Rosary in her classroom each morning at 8.45 for any child in the school that wishes to attend.

Car Parking Survey

Many thanks for taking the time to return this questionnaire. I have given the results so far to the parent Council. So far we have 137 returns for the school. If you have not made a return yet we would appreciate it if you could return it as soon as possible.

                                                                School Uniform

A reminder that our uniform is blue including a blue shirt. Please encourage your child to wear his / her shirt and tie.

Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice

The hospice is raising funds to relocate to a new building in BellahoustonPark. Our school will take part in a fundraising day along with many other primary schools to help by taking part in “Wear a onsie ( pyjamas ) to school” Day on Friday 11th October. We hope each child or family will make a £1 donation on the day.
