School Website
Mr Murphy ( Principal Teacher ) has been updating the school website. It required a number of changes and it will now include items e.g. holiday dates, newsletters, survey results etc.
Parent Council
At the Parent Council Meeting it was agreed that I would send out a Questionnaire regarding the Parking in the street outside the school gates. Whilst this road is the access to the school it is a public road. However, many parents are seeking an improvement to this access road for the safety of the pupils.
In the meantime could I please request that you do not park on the zig zag lines outside the school gate. I have ordered some signs to be displayed at this area.
Assessment
Your child’s progress is assessed daily in a variety of ways. All the children now have a yellow Assessment Folder which already has samples of their work. These folders will be updated each term to include Writing, Spelling and Maths.
An opportunity will be given to you to look at the folder on Parents’ Evening.
Learning Conversations
Children are encouraged to talk about their learning and to self assess their work so they understand what the next steps are in order to improve and develop their learning.
These conversations start in Nursery and take part daily in the classroom. At some time your child as part of a small group will be asked to come to speak to the Management Team to discuss their learning. This is an opportunity for all of us to discuss the learning taking place in Lourdes Primary School.
Questionnaire / Parents’ Views
Many thanks to all of you who have completed the questionnaires and for giving us feedback regarding a number of issues.

The issues of concern varied and these will be prioritised and will be addressed in a number of ways e.g. Staff Meetings, Reviewing Policies, Parent Council, Parent Focus Groups and further questionnaires.
Concerns raised included:
Parent Evenings School Meals
Homework Reporting To Parents
Health and Safety Bullying
Playground Learning and Teaching
Parking School Trips
School Website After School Clubs
Communication ICT Resources
A number of positive comments were also made which helps too in letting us know when or where we are making improvements.
Please see attached the results for the stage your child is at and the for the whole school.
Personal Learning Plans
These plans start from Primary 2 the children will be discussing their targets for Literacy and Numeracy. Members of the Parent Council are assisting with the folders and the plans will be sent home next week.
Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice
The hospice is raising funds to relocate to a new building in Bellahouston Park. Our school will take part in a fundraising day along with many other primary schools to help by taking part in “Wear a onsie ( pyjamas ) to school” Day on Friday 11th October.
P.E. Kit Reminder
Children should wear a white or blue polo shirt, P.E. shorts or jogging trousers for P.E.
Each class has 2 hours of P.E. a week and it would be helpful if your child brought the polo shirt to change into and also a change of trainers i.e. not the trainers/ sandshoes. worn to school.
